| I prefer to be in Arsenal's position, says Pep Guardiola |
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has openly admitted he would rather be leading the Premier League title race than chasing it, as the battle for the crown heats up.
Despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford, Arsenal remain at the top of the table, maintaining a four-point advantage over City. With just a dozen matches left to play, the margin is slim — but significant enough to increase the tension for the defending champions.
Guardiola, whose side is preparing for an FA Cup fourth-round tie against Salford City, acknowledged the psychological pressure that comes with being the team trying to close the gap.
Speaking ahead of the cup fixture, the City boss conceded that he would much rather be protecting a lead than attempting to overhaul one. He pointed out that even holding a four-point cushion with 12 matches remaining would not allow for complete comfort — but chasing from behind brings even greater anxiety.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have the opportunity to stretch their advantage further when they travel to face Wolverhampton Wanderers next Wednesday. A victory there would extend their lead to seven points, piling even more pressure on City as the title race approaches its decisive phase.
With the season entering its final stretch, every dropped point could prove costly, and the mental battle may become just as crucial as the football itself.
