Mokheseng Nqxulelo (32) is accused of murdering her husband, a sergeant attached to the Protection and Security Services (PSS). Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani confirmed that Nqxulelo appeared in the Aliwal North Magistrate’s Court on 23 December 2025, where the case was postponed. She was remanded in custody pending transfer to the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court.
Nqxulelo is expected to appear again on 29 December 2025 to face a charge of murder.
According to the Hawks, the officer was shot at his home in Harare. Nqxulelo was re-arrested in Jamestown, Eastern Cape, by members of the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit.
Hani said the incident dates back to February 2023, following an argument between the couple. Family members were present earlier but left after the dispute continued. The accused allegedly stated that her husband retrieved his service firearm and later handed it to her, instructing her to fire a few shots.
Police reports indicate that shots were fired inside the house, after which the officer was found injured. He was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The accused then sought assistance from a neighbour.
The matter was initially scheduled for trial in June 2025 but was withdrawn due to the unavailability of a key witness. Following further discussions with the Director of Public Prosecutions, a warrant of arrest was issued, leading to Nqxulelo’s re-arrest and formal charging.
