Atiku: APC Damaged Nigeria More Than Military Ever Did

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the party has caused severe harm to Nigeria’s national life. He described the current administration as the worst he has seen in nearly 40 years of political experience.
Atiku made the comments during a book launch, where he also expressed optimism about increasing unity among politicians from diverse backgrounds under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He described the ADC as a distinctive political platform uniting individuals with diverse political views around a common goal of restoring national unity and revitalising Nigeria’s democratic path.

“At the very least, the positive aspect of recent political developments is this collective effort to save the country from what I regard as the worst administration I have experienced in nearly four decades of political life,” Atiku stated.

He further asserted that previous military regimes did not erode Nigeria’s national consciousness to the degree he believes the current administration has.

“Not even the military dictatorships prior to 1999 inflicted the kind of damage on our national life and awareness that this administration has,” he added.

Atiku also pointed out that many attendees at the event were founding members of the APC, a party he said has fallen short of its initial promise to rescue the nation.

“Many of us here were involved in the formation of the APC. Sadly, the change we hoped for to rescue the country has not materialised,” Atiku said.

He concluded by urging renewed collective efforts to establish a strong alternative political platform that can tackle Nigeria’s challenges and rebuild public trust in governance.
