In his message to INEC employees across the country to celebrate the start of the new year, Amupitan called it a time for renewal and a key moment for strengthening the commission’s structures in preparation for the next major elections.
Looking back at the commission’s work in the previous year, the INEC head praised his team for their commitment, especially for the successful running of the Anambra State governorship election that took place soon after he took charge.
He said that this event proved that with a strong sense of discipline, unity, and professional behavior, the commission can safeguard the integrity of the voting process and increase public trust in elections.
“We have shown that through discipline and teamwork, we can protect our democracy.
As we move into an exciting yet challenging year, we must thoroughly prepare for the upcoming FCT Area Council elections, as well as the off-cycle governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states,” he stated.
Amupitan also noted that getting ready for the general elections is still the most important task, showing confidence that through everyone's hard work, the election process will be smooth and trustworthy.
“Our goal is to conduct a poll that is free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive,” he said.
He also promised to place a high value on the well-being of his staff, reiterating his commitment to creating a workplace rooted in fairness, discipline, and respect between colleagues.
“Your well-being is a top priority.
We will keep working to create an environment where discipline is maintained, yet everyone feels appreciated, safe, and ready to achieve their best,” he added.
He encouraged the staff to stay committed to maintaining the integrity of the electoral system, reminding them that the effort of all INEC workers is essential in creating a commission that Nigerians can trust and that every eligible voter feels empowered, and that each vote is counted.
Amupitan expressed hope that this year will bring substantial progress for the commission, while also wishing all the staff and their families a successful New Year.
“Together, let us keep upholding the integrity and transparency of our electoral system as we carry on serving the people of Nigeria with quality and continue to build an INEC that everyone can trust,” he concluded.
