Kim shared the heartbreaking news on January 1, revealing that Micah passed away on New Year’s Eve due to complications from a severe case of the flu. The illness reportedly progressed to sepsis and seizures, and Micah was later placed on life support.
In two emotional videos shared on Instagram, the father of six said his son “went home to the house of our Father” after what he described as 11 long and difficult days. He thanked supporters around the world for their prayers, saying his family felt deeply uplifted during the painful time.
Kim said the past two weeks had been the most difficult experience of his life. While asking for privacy to grieve with his family, he explained that he felt a responsibility to update those who had been praying for and supporting them throughout Micah’s hospitalization.
He added that despite their heartbreak, his family remains grounded in faith and asked for continued prayers as they learn how to move forward.
Kim also said that throughout Micah’s treatment, the family explored every possible option, consulting medical, legal, and ethical teams both inside and outside the hospital. He explained that their goal was to do everything within their power as parents, even as the outcome grew increasingly uncertain.
Micah’s health struggle was first shared publicly on December 21, when Kim revealed that his son had been rushed to the hospital during a medical emergency. In the days that followed, he frequently asked his followers to pray for a miracle and provided regular updates on Micah’s condition.
On December 27, Kim revealed that scans showed severe brain damage and that doctors believed recovery was medically impossible, leaving the family clinging to faith for divine intervention.
Since the announcement of Micah’s passing, an outpouring of support has followed, including a public message from singer Gwen Stefani, who said she was praying for the family. A GoFundMe established to help cover Micah’s medical care and family expenses has reportedly raised more than $350,000.
Kim concluded his message by asking for prayers for strength, saying that while their hearts are broken, their trust remains in God.
